We are very excited to announce that Roses for Soldiers is coming back again this July with a brand new look! In the years past, we have made July all about giving back by donating a portion of our rose sales for the month to charity organizations, and this year is no different. Operation Homefront is an organization dedicated to providing financial assistance to wounded warriors and military families in need, and we are pleased to say that our donations from this endeavor will benefit families that live right in Koehler & Dramm’s 5-state service area: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

A national nonprofit, Operation Homefront leads more than 2,500 volunteers with nationwide presence who provide emergency and other financial assistance to the families of service members and wounded warriors. Operation Homefront has provided assistance to thousands of military families since its inception in 2002. Recognized for superior performance by leading independent charity watchdog groups, nationally, 92% of Operation Homefront’s expenditures go directly to programs that provide support to our military families.

Koehler & Dramm pledges to donate 2 cents for every rose stem sold in July to Operation Homefront, and we’ve set our 2017 total contribution goal at $6,000! That means we have to sell 300,000 roses… it’s a lofty goal, but we can do it with your help!

How can you help?

Simply by buying roses from Koehler & Dramm, you can be involved in Roses for Soldiers, but if you want to take your participation to the next level, we would like to encourage you to run a Roses for Soldiers program in your own shop! Whether you choose to donate to Operation Homefront alongside Koehler & Dramm, another military charity organization, or directly to a military family right in your own community, together we can make a difference in the lives of those who have given so much for us.

If you would like to give to Operation Homefront, we’ve created a media kit to help get you started with a Roses for Soldiers program. The kit includes an informational booklet and marketing materials (posters, social media collateral, fliers, and more) that will help you run a successful program in your shop. You can request a kit from your sales rep or download and print the materials using the links below. Plus, we’re offering great buys on roses and other products all month long!

Good news! We’ve done all the marketing and promotions work for you! Click on any of the links below to download the materials, or feel free to let your sales rep know that you’d like print copies, and we’ll get them sent to you!

eventbrite header

The annual Fall & Winter Classic is coming, and it’s bringing thrills, chills and spills on October 1 & 2, 2016! (Ok, the chills are most likely from our floral cooler, and the spills are on you if you drop your lunch, but our special guests and our dedicated staff will bring the thrills!)

This year our guest designers are the renowned Tim Farrell AIFD AAF PFCI and Deborah De La Flor AIFD PFCI, who will present the latest and greatest designs, trends, and techniques for entertaining and decorating for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays! Get to know the designers here.

Saturday – 4:00-8:00 PM
Saturday evening’s events will feature a trade fair showcasing industry vendors from all over the world (showing us some international love!), the preliminary round of the Designer of the Year Competition during which the six finalists will be chosen, social hour and buying opportunities, and design session by local designer Lynne Tischler of Your Enchanted Florist followed by a one-hour design seminar by Tim Farrell on creating masterful harvest centerpieces for the fall season! Doors open at 3:45.

Sunday – 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
Then, we’re bringing the heat on Sunday with a full day of design seminars featuring Tim Farrell on stage in the morning and Deb De La Flor on stage in the afternoon. Both designers will be presenting their individual interpretations of fall and winter seasonal designs, including interior and exterior party arrangements and decor, top seasonal trends, and harvesting ideas that are perfect for the Midwest and will cover designs for every budget! Sunday’s events will also include the announcements of the winners of the 2016 Wedding Design Competition and the finalists of the Designer of the Year Competition, plus a showroom walk-through with our buying team to introduce you to the season’s top looks, a delicious lunch served by Buca di Beppo, and of course the raffle prize drawing and live auction where you will have the opportunity to purchase the designs created by Tim and Deb during their presentations. Doors open at 7:30.

Monday Classes – Level 1 – 8:00-11:00; Level 2 – 12:00-3:00
Tim will also be teaching two classes on Monday, October 3, 2016 that will use classic works of art to influence and inspire students’ floral designs. Level 1 will provide a look at the influences of classical styles on modern day design and an introduction to the principles and elements of design – an understanding of which is imperative to creating aesthetic designs! In the Level 2 session, Tim will dive further into creating works of floral art that embrace and evoke the classic masters, and advanced directives of the principles and elements covered in Level 1.

IMPORTANT: The Level 2 class is an advanced, fast-paced, and hands-on learning environment formatted for experienced designers! In order to take the Level 2 class you MUST have a solid understanding of the principles and elements of design, a mastery of design techniques and skills, a minimum of three years’ experience in the floral industry, and the ability to keep up with a rigorous pace. The Level 2 class will NOT be slowed down to accommodate novice designers.

You can attend both days of the Classic for one low price! Tickets are just $25 before 9/28/16, but the cost increases to $35 on 9/28/16, so get your tickets now! Monday class prices are $100 for Level 1 and $150 for Level 2. You are welcome to take both classes if you would like!

Meet the New Koehler & Dramm (Logo)!

Since 1955, Minneapolis-based Koehler & Dramm Wholesale Florist has been a pillar in the floral and events industries in the Upper Midwest. As the company celebrates 60 years in business in 2015, the wholesaler is making some very exciting changes to its image, and has recently debuted a new logo.

As a letter from President Lee Spence and Marketing Director Emily Gorg explains:

“60 Years Strong means more to us than just 60 years of selling floral products in the Upper Midwest. It means 60 years of innovation, education, development, forging relationships, expansion, trials and triumphs, and so much more. When our design team created this new logo, we wanted to pay homage to the longstanding mission and and deeply rooted values on which Koehler & Dramm was built, yet demonstrate our commitment to innovation and a unified approach to the future of our company, our customers’ businesses, our community, and our industry.

This project has been in development for several months now, with different variations getting thrown in and then subsequently tossed out of the ring, until we felt that we had finally achieved a design that accomplished our mission.

Since our inception in 1955, we’ve endeavored to be the best; to provide our customers with the widest variety and the highest standards of quality, service and value; to provide a happy, healthy environment; to be a source of financial security and personal development for our employees; and to provide a vehicle for social service while contributing to the economic and aesthetic quality of our community. We hope to continue to accomplish these goals for all of our customers for many years to come.”

As Mrs. Gorg conceptualized and designed the logo and brand components, several important elements were pinpointed. The new logo features a modernized version of the classic Koehler K, incorporated into a navy blue circle, with a new lime green color filling the negative space. But the intentionality behind the design goes much deeper than simply creating a clean, recognizable logo, and the break-down reveals a much more detailed and insightful look at Koehler & Dramm’s new identifier. See below for more:

Learn more about the design process of our new logo and how the different elements work together to embody our values and our mission.

Standing by its pledge to be an eco-friendly and environmentally conscious company, Koehler & Dramm will not undergo an immediate changeover to the new logo. Rather, it will be phased in gradually to prevent the waste of materials that already bear the classic Koeher mark. Koehler customers in the 5-state KD service area can expect to see the new logo make its appearance on some media right away, while the complete transition is expected to take several months.
